March 01, 2011

We just got back from Las Vegas and are trying to get caught up. I had a fantastic time. It is always neat to finally meet so many LaserU subscribers. Putting a face to a name is great and I get to hear face-to-face feedback on the site. I hope you had a great time too!

Laser Spotlight

Each month we showcase an item, product or skill from LaserU. We give a summary of the item and provide links for more information. This month we will look at The Exhaust System. This comes from our Learning Center titled - Course 2, Lesson 4.

In Course 2 we cover both topics of safety, maintenance, exhaust and accessories. It is always a great idea to review topics such as these. This spotlight focuses on Lesson 4 The Exahust System.

Here are a few quick tips & images, but please see C2L4 for more detail & information.

  • Keep the number of bends to an absolute minimum and keep the length of the duct as short as possible.
  • The main duct should be constructed of 4 inch or 6 inch metal duct.
  • With the fan located at the end of the duct it is creating a low pressure in the duct.

It is recommended that each seam and joint
of the metal duct be sealed.

A small piece of flexible duct (shown left) is recommended to go between the laser system and the rigid metal duct.

For more information on this, see Course 2, Lesson 4 in the Learning Center.
