Laser Spotlight

Each month we showcase an item, product or skill from LaserU. We give a summary of the item and provide links for more information. This month we will look at CerMark. For more information you can see the Learning Center item titled Course 10: CerMark.

Metal marking is a process of thermal bonding. This bonding uses the heat energy from the laser to fuse the CerMark coating to the substrate.

Why Use CerMark?

There are a few other products out on the market that will metal mark. So why use the CerMark brand? The answer is simple. CerMark provides the best product visually and the longest lasting. The metal marked area comes out in crisp, black finish. It has also been tested for durability through scratch testing, chemical testing and heat/cold cycling.

CerMark works on clear, clean and only uncoated metals. No coating! Not even a clear coat! LaserBits tests and certifies that all items it calls "cermarkable" will work with CerMark. It works best on stainless steel but it also works on other metals. Shown below are a stainless steel plaque, tool steel and a pewter plate.
